Coach Tumbas played high school lacrosse at Mt. Lebanon, a suburb of Pittsburgh. The team won two WPSLA titles and finished as the state runner up twice during his career. He was voted the team's most improved player by the coaching staff his senior year. Next, Tumbas attended the College of Wooster were he helped the team to the
school's first ever NCAA tournament appearance in 2004. He then coached for two seasons at Central Catholic High School in Pittsburgh. The Vikings advanced to the playoffs in both seasons and players moved on to Stevenson, Oberlin, RIT, Stevens Tech, Villanova, and Penn State. Tumbas was the head junior varsity coach and varsity assistant coach working primarily with the offense for both seasons. He finished his playing career at the University of Pittsburgh where he was named a team captain, led the team in points, and was nominated to the CCLA All Conference team. Currently, Tumbas is the head coach at Indiana University (MCLA) and the director of the American Revolution.
